AI Weekly Digest #6: Building virtual worlds populated by autonomous AI agents

Welcome to this new edition of our AI newsletter, where we bring you the latest updates on artificial intelligence!

For the previous edition, we explored the growing “AI Agent” trend, i.e., building AIs capable of working autonomously towards achieving a certain goal. For instance, you can ask it to write a competitive analysis about a specific market. The AI would create a list of tasks, execute them, compile results and output the report without your intervention!

This trend is confirmed will continue growing this the coming months.

  • The Main Headlines: AI Regulations, GPT5, & Amazon AI foundations.

  • Beyond the Hype, the story: Building a SimCity like universe with autonomous AI agents interacting together leads to a fascinating social experiment. What did we learn and what are the consequences?

  • Bonus: FutureTools, find the AI tool you are looking for, and AutoGPT compilation of demos.

Beyond the Hype, The Story

Towards AI autonomous Agents?

Imagine stepping into a virtual world where AI characters have their own personalities, memories, and daily routines! A groundbreaking study has made this a reality, creating 25 AI agents who can chat, make decisions, and even plan events like Valentine's Day parties.

These AI buddies remember their past experiences and use them to shape their future actions, making them more human-like than ever before. The best part? They're so convincing that they were deemed more believable than actual humans in a recent evaluation!

This breakthrough will revolutionize gaming, giving us lifelike characters to interact with, and could even help us understand human behavior in new ways. Get ready to befriend the future!

Main Headlines

AI Regulations: Not a headline per say, but as AI safety is becoming a very vivid concern, it’s important to take a step back and look at how countries are reacting already to these AI safety concerns.

GPT5: Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, states that GPT5 isn’t being trained and that it will probably take a while before such a model is released. Not surprising since we know that gpt3 took more than a couple of years, with several incremental improvements before reaching GPT4. We can expect a graduel roll-out of GPT4 in the coming months as well, with incremental improvement before we hear about a possible GPT5 (e.g., releasing the image analysis features announced with GPT4 but not available yet).

Amazon joins the AI race: End of February, Amazon announced partnership with HuggingFace to make AI more accessible. This week, Amazon announced Bedrock, a new AI platform that makes it easy for anyone to create and scale AI applications. It lets you choose from a variety of powerful AI models made by top companies, customize them with your own data, and then use them for all sorts of things like writing stories, building chatbots, or even creating realistic images. It integrate also natively various powerful models form other leading AI companies such as Anthropic or Stable AI!

Bonus!

That’s it for today! If you made it this far, I’d appreciate a quick feedback 😋! I know there’s room for improvement! So don’t hesitate to share with me the things you liked and those that you didn’t.

Have a great Sunday and may AI always be on your side!
